Some of us are always alone.
The dangers of a lonely human life in Metropolis is very real, vast areas of the Big Met are given over to artificial lifeforms, and since The Big Lift last century not too many humans remain compared to the old holos we’ve seen of Earth Before.
Sure, there’s the ai-humans, those who have uploaded and glitch around, and there’s the whole cult of artificial lifeforms who have a fetish to live and look like humans, but there’s a group out there on the edge, the “no contactors”.
No contactors are humans who go their whole lives without ever meeting another human, some do that on purpose and some just live and work in areas where humans are just not that common.
An effort recently to rehouse no contactors closer together by the City AI Council has been met with criticism, calling it an attempt to move live lifeforms from valuable real estate to areas toxic to artificial life and unhealthy for humans without protection.
